IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION: Runners are strongly encouraged to register before race day in order get a race tee shirt. If we do not have your size on race day, we will be happy to mail you a shirt on a later date. Race day registration and packet pick up will begin at 8:00am. At the clubhouse. Parking will begin in the main parking lot of the club and overflow parking will be available in the pool parking lot. Volunteers will be available to assist you. The run will end at the 18^th hole and will be followed by an awards ceremony. Food and beverages will be provided at the finish line. The Club at Ironwood restaurant and bar will be open to the general public as well. We look forward to seeing everyone on Thanksgiving morning as we work up an appetite for a great cause.

About The Club at Ironwood:

The Club at Ironwood is best known for its magnificent 18-hole David F. Gordon-designed golf course. Its small, undulating greens and rolling fairways
create a challenge for the expert player as well as being fun for the beginner. The club's 100 year heritage dates back to 1910. The Club at Ironwood has played host to many major amateur events in Virginia and the Mid Atlantic. Most notably it has hosted the prestigious Sun Trust Virginia State Open, attracting the best professional golfers throughout the country.

to run (or walk) the 5K course through the beautiful Club at Ironwood and raise money for

Valley Children's Center - Child Advocacy Center. This is a child friendly event and strollers are welcome.

Race Course:

RACE DESCRIPTION:

The run starts on Country Club Road, just north of the main entrance to The Club at Ironwood. The course continues on Country Club Road until you get to the residential area where you will turn right onto Brassie Way. Runners will follow Brassie Way onto the golf course. Enjoy the magnificent views as you run the rolling hills of the Club at Ironwood Golf Course. The run ends right at the 18^th hole where runners can enjoy food and beverages.

So dig out those old running shoes and sign up today!

Packet pick-up will be available on Wednesday, November 21 from 4:00 - 6:00pm at The Club At Ironwood or on race day beginning at 8:00am.

WHAT WE DO
The Valley Children's Center is a non-profit agency designed to reduce the trauma and advance the recovery of abused and neglected children. The Center provides a comfortable, private, child-friendly setting where abused children are interviewed by a trained forensic interviewer. These interviews are recorded for the purpose of assisting Law Enforcement and the Commonwealth's Attorney in the successful prosecution of child abuse cases.

We also provide immediate crisis intervention counseling to the victim, non-offending caregivers and siblings, and provide programs to enhance our community's understanding of child abuse and neglect. The Valley Children’s Center (VCC), with the help of the Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County business community, will be holding our 1^st Annual Valley Children's Center Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk. The event will take place on Thanksgiving morning, November 22^nd, 2012 at 9:00am at The Club at Ironwood. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Valley Children’s Center.

Valley Children’s Center is a non-profit Children’s Advocacy center, designed to reduce the trauma and advance recovery of abused and neglected children. The Center provides a comfortable, private, child-friendly atmosphere where children can be interviewed by a trained forensic interviewer in partnership with law enforcement and Child Protective Services. The interviews are recorded for use by the Commonwealth’s Attorney to enhance the investigation and prosecution of abuse allegations. I am inviting you to join us in the cause for fighting child abuse in our community. Your participation is instrumental, in both the continued success of this event and the support of the Valley Children’s Center.
